Yet another glorious, hot sunny day here in the Okanagan. The days are getting longer, the sun is getting hotter, and the lake continues to rise and flood our great little town. We’re nearing the water line of the 1940 flood here in Kelowna, BC. I don’t think anyone could have predicted this, but it’s here and everyone must come together and get through this scary situation! As I continue on my daily adventures, I’ve visited a few of my favourite sneaky beaches only to find they are not beaches anymore…I’m so sad to see this!!! Praying for everyone who has lakefront property that you will stay dry and safe!
OK, enough about the sad stuff..I will still get out and enjoy this amazing playground that’s in my own backyard! The next adventure I’ll tell you about is a place I frequent probably four times a week. It’s called Tallus Ridge. Well, the area is called this. New developers have slowly picked away at my one of my favourite spots to hike and now cul-de-sacs are starting to take over. Well, screw it, I guess I’ll just have to climb higher up and be one with the bears 😉
This is about 4 minutes from my house and the dogs just love it.
We get plenty of sun but also some forgiving shade as you wind through the trees. This is a special spot because just two years ago, a really big chunk of this area was on fire. Thank god, the brave firefighters were able to control it from completely burning down and taking many many houses with it.
There are a couple of great lookout spots that you can check out most of West Kelowna, our beautiful lake and ALLLLLL of the new developments popping up everywhere. This particular spot is one Luna and Hemi like to take a break at.
My favourite part of this hike is when we get to the rushing creek! It’s so refreshing to dip your feet in and let the dogs lay down and lap up some much needed water!
You might be wondering who the other dog is in the photo…that’s Maggie. She is one of the random dogs I bring along with us from time to time. People have such busy lives so why not offer some dog walking to help them out and get their dogs out on new adventures?? She loves to splash in EVERY puddle she can find and sure gives Luna a run for her money!
Anyway, until next time, I’m lacing up and getting out there! See you soon
